Supporting our schools' families and staff with basic needs, resources, and school continuity during times of uncertainty.

Edina Education Fund is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, and your donation is tax deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law.

Why Your Support Matters

The Hornet Cares Fund provides direct support to Edina schools' families and staff facing temporary hardship, helping ensure stability, dignity, and continued access to school and community resources.

While our top funding priorities remain food and basic necessities (toiletries, prescriptions, etc), we have chosen a more flexible option to distribute funds to our families, which allows them flexibility to use your donations for expanded needs.

We continue to partner with other nonprofits on rent and utilities to help alleviate these higher cost items where appropriate.

Together, we can bring much-needed help to our friends and neighbors who are in need.

As of February 22, we have distributed $37,000 in gift cards to families who have reached out to their schools seeking assistance. Additional gift cards are being purchased and processed.

Is the Hornet Cares Fund providing rent and/or utilities assistance?

While we understand the need for help in these two areas, we are also aware that our fundraising capability is limited. Rent alone is approximately $2,000 per family, per month. The Edina Public Schools and the Hornet Cares Fund Team are working with neighboring nonprofits to ensure our Hornets have access to rent and utility assistance. If you know someone in need, please have them reach out to a school administrator, social worker, counselor, teacher, cultural liaison, or any staff member.
